This listing is for an underkimono - called a "juban" in Japanese - which would be worn under a man's kimono. Juban often feature designs that reflect the interests of their owner but are rarely seen in public since they are layered underneath a kimono. Just in inch or two of the over-collar is visible, though you may catch a glimpse of the sleeve edge at the wrist. Juban make great casual robes.

This juban features a charming procession of soldiers and horses that parade along the switchbacks that meander along each panel of the kimono. Beautiful teal blue mixed with earthtones of gray, brown, and green. And don't miss the landmarks they're passing along the way: a castle sitting high above, snow-capped Mt. Fuji, arching bridges.....

The over-collar is black, and the juban is unlined. The fabric is a lightweight wool blend - not scratchy.

Juban make great robes and cover ups but watch the video below to see how to layer the juban with a kimono.

This kimono does not come with an obi/belt/sash but we do make simple cotton sashes that can be added as an option when you order. We will choose a color that goes well with it.

If you'd like to display the kimono, we offer hanging rods in five colors (brown, black, natural, white, and red) - see the Add a Display Rod? tab below.
