This listing is for an underkimono - called a "juban" in Japanese - which would be worn under a man's kimono. Learn more about this type of kimono below.

A quiet journey through a Japanese landscape unfolds across this blue-gray men’s underkimono, accented in soft brown, green, cream, and touches of gold. Kanoko (fawn spot) shibori form mountain silhouettes around overlapping folding fans, including a detailed scenic fan depicting a temple complex, pine-covered hills, water, and a small bridge.

Below, an arrangement of traditional tea utensils adds an intimate cultural note, with patterned vessels and a bamboo-decorated bowl highlighted in delicate gold accents. Mountains suggest endurance and stability, while the tea imagery evokes hospitality, refinement, and tranquil contemplation.

Juban often feature designs that reflect the interests of their owner but are rarely seen in public since they are layered underneath a kimono. Just an inch or two of the over-collar is visible, though you may catch a glimpse of the sleeve edge at the wrist. Juban make great casual robes.

This kimono does not come with an obi/belt/sash, but we do make simple cotton sashes that can be added as an option when you order. We will choose a color that goes well with it.
