This listing is for a contemporary (1980s or 90s) Japanese han (half-width) maru-style obi. Maru obi are the most formal style of obi with patterning on both sides (which makes it more expensive). Japanese obi make elegant table runners, mantle covers, or wall decor.

This obi features a bright gold and red combination of large chrysanthemums floating along the curving lines of a tatewaku (rising steam) motif. Some of the petals are white, edged in gold.

The backside is partially lined with red silk.  

11' long and 8" wide. Excellent condition.
