This is a vintage lining from a man's haori jacket, constructed from hand-sewn panels of lightweight cotton dyed in a deep indigo that now displays natural tonal variation, with areas of soft fading from decades of wear and laundering.

The expert hand-stitching is visible in the long running stitches along the seams, suggesting pre-war tailoring. The simple solid surface shows it was intended as a functional, breathable, and comfortable inner layer against the skin while also carrying the charm and durability of indigo-dyed cloth.

The wear marks, minor holes, and sun-faded areas reflect years of use, giving this piece a quiet wabi-sabi beauty. It is a great example of collectible folk textile and could be repurposed for sashiko or boro-inspired projects.

There's a small piece of the original kimono fabric still intact at one sleeve edge.

Watch the video below about the indigo dyeing process.
