This listing is for an underkimono - called a "juban" in Japanese - which would be worn under a man's kimono. Juban often feature designs that reflect the interests of their owner but are rarely seen in public since they are layered underneath a kimono. Just in inch or two of the over-collar is visible, though you may catch a glimpse of the sleeve edge at the wrist. Juban make great casual robes.

This juban features three main motifs - tsuru (cranes), matsu (pine), and kikko (tortoise shells). The cranes and pine are beautifully depicted on floating frames in the ukiyo-e woodblock print style. This contrasts nicely with the overall kikko patterning behind in shades of blue and brown. Details include kanji signature calligraphy alongside the cranes.

The over-collar is dark blue, no lining.

This kimono does not come with an obi/belt/sash, but we do make simple cotton sashes that can be added as an option when you order. We will choose a color that goes well with it.
