This listing is for a vintage michiyuki jacket, meant to be worn over a kimono. A square neckline, inner ties to keep the hemline straight, snap closure, and a hidden pocket on the right front panel are the specific features of a michiyuki - michi means "street" and yuki refers to "going out".

This michiyuki is a bold mustard yellow silk - a yummy color and one we don't often see.  The design of nested diamonds was woven with lacquer-covered threads in a process called urushi. This design combines traditional Japanese motifs with a more mid-century modern flair of large geometrics. The lining also reflects this aesthetic with geometric candy stripes with traditional floral motifs.

Hidden pocket in the front - perfect to hold glasses keys, or other light items.

Michiyuki are a narrow garment, fastened with snaps that will open if the fit is too tight. (The measurement we give is the jacket snapped closed, so your hips and waist measurement should be several inches smaller than the hips/waist measurement we give.)
