Warm and wonderfully retro, this orange michiyuki makes a bold statement with its oversized florals, rich texture, and unusual softly folded collar. The fabric is woven with an allover garden of overlapping camellias and leaves, and silver and black threads that create a subtle graphic shimmer against the orange background. Scattered larger blossoms in deeper red-orange rise from the surface with a plush, velvet weave, adding dimension and contrast to the quieter background pattern. 

Hidden pocket in the front - perfect to hold glasses keys, or other light items.

Michiyuki are traditional Japanese overcoats designed for both function and polish, originally worn when stepping out, as reflected in the name, michi meaning “street” and yuki meaning “going out.” Most michiyuki have a distinctive square neckline, inner ties to keep the hemline neatly aligned, snap closures for a secure fit, and sometimes even a hidden pocket on the right front panel. Worn over kimono to protect from weather and wear, michiyuki blend utility with refined style. Today, these jackets are used for layering pieces over dresses or denim, repurposed into unique textile projects, or displayed as home decor.
