This listing is for a decorative image taken from a vintage Japanese katagami stencil, suitable for framing.  It is not part of the original stencil - it is a copied image, machine-cut, on thick art paper. We love the mid-century feel of this one.  The wavy lines are the tatewaku pattern, an auspicious motif symbolizing "rising steam" as mist rises from flowing water.  The blocky, nested circles and squares offer another graphic layer that creates layers of interest.

Your purchase includes only a sheet of the katagami art and a contrasting piece of cardstock to place behind it. Photos show examples of how placing different colored paper or fabric behind the stencil can change the display. The last photos give suggestions for framing.
