This listing is for a vintage Japanese kimono made for a young girl. To learn more about these type of kimono read below.

Bold, graphic, and full of retro charm, this vintage girl's silk kimono makes a striking statement with oversized red blocks contrasted against tiny black-and-white checkerboard squares. The dramatic patchwork-style arrangement creates a playful geometric rhythm, while the traditional ichimatsu (checkerboard motif) symbolizes continuity, prosperity, and good fortune. The unlined silk fabric gives this eye-catching design a lightweight, flowing quality.

This kimono has a 12" tuck at the waist and a 3" tuck at each shoulder. These can be taken out to allow for more length and width if desired.

Children's summer kimono were designed to be lightweight and comfortable during Japan's warmer months, often featuring cheerful colors, playful patterns, and breathable fabrics. More refined than everyday cotton yukata, silk summer kimono could be worn for seasonal celebrations, family outings, festivals, and other warm-weather occasions.

Vintage Japanese children's kimono make eye-catching displays in spaces too small to accommodate a full-sized kimono. We offer display rods (click the tab below) if you're going to display this kimono.

If purchasing this to be worn, please check the measurements given carefully.  Children's kimono run small!
