This listing is for one yard from a deadstock bolt of unsewn, unused vintage Japanese kimono fabric.

This vivid kimono fabric features a bold scarlet red background scattered with playful cream-colored squares - each created through the traditional shibori (tie-dye) technique (see video below on how this is done).

The rounded squares are slightly irregular with a bit of puckered texture that reveals the handiwork involved. The effect is dynamic and festive. Lightweight silk that was likely meant to be a lining to a kimono or haori jacket.

Great for piecework, especially when combined with other vintage kimono remnants. Continuous yardage may be available.
