This listing is for a vintage michiyuki jacket, meant to be worn over a kimono. A square neckline, inner ties to keep the hemline straight, snap closure, and a hidden pocket on the right front panel are the specific features of a michiyuki - michi means "street" and yuki refers to "going out".

The roses of this jacket show the Western influence in Japanese design that became popular in post-war Japan - considered to reflect more modern romantic tastes. Beautifully woven collage where each rose blossom blends in with the next. Lovely raspberry pink color palette with gray outlining and linear elements in the petals.

Michiyuki are a narrow garment, fastened with snaps that will open if the fit is too tight. (The measurement we give is the jacket snapped closed, so your hips and waist measurement should be several inches smaller than the hips/waist measurement we give.)

Going to display this? We offer wooden display rods in many colors to choose from. Add one from the tab below this description.
