This listing is for a vintage michiyuki jacket, meant to be worn over a kimono. A square neckline, inner ties to keep the hemline straight, snap closure, and a hidden pocket on the right front panel are the specific features of a michiyuki - michi means "street" and yuki refers to "going out".

This michiyuki features rinzu silk in a radiant burst of color and classic motifs. Woven in a subtle tone-on-tone fuchsia pink jacquard silk, the designs include tachibana (wild mandarin), paulownia, and phoenix birds on a mosaic of folding fans. The lining is also bright with various florals.

Unfortunately, there are a few discolorations, see last photos, but still a masterful piece of wearable art.

Hidden pocket in the front - perfect to hold glasses keys, or other light items.

Michiyuki are a narrow garment, fastened with snaps that will open if the fit is too tight. (The measurement we give is the jacket snapped closed, so your hips and waist measurement should be several inches smaller than the hips/waist measurement we give.)

Going to display this? We offer wooden display rods in many colors to choose from. Add one from the tab below this description.
