This listing is for a full bolt of ro silk meant to be made into a formal summer kimono.

The background is periwinkle (leaning towards purple) and the pattern features bush clover and a stylized cosmos as well as maples leaves to welcome Autumn. Some petals and leaves have gold leaf embellishment for a subtle shimmer.
The design was created with the yuzen technique - where the pattern is applied by stencil and a resist paste that creates a white border around each element.  A talented artisan then paints each section before the resist is removed; the tell-tale white outline of each element is a hallmark of this technique.  (That white outline is often filled with gold leaf that creates a subtle and elegant edging.) See video below for how this is done.

Because kimono are designed on a narrow (14" wide) but long (9-11 yards) bolt of silk, the patterning may seem to have been applied randomly, but of course the opposite is true.  There are only a couple of places 2'-3' long that do not have a floral element, but if the kimono were to be sewn together, those florals would appear on the front and back of each sleeve, around the hem, and also at the shoulders.

Hand-written kanji characters appear at one end of the bolt - see last photo.
