We create these tapestries by salvaging a portion of a kimono when other sections of the garment are beyond repair or rescue. This listing is for a wall hanging tapestry made from a woman's kimono. 

A playful mix of structure and abstraction gives this piece a distinctly modern edge, with a grid-like lattice layered beneath bold, stylized botanical forms. The design features ikat patterning paired with graphic shapes in red, green, gray, pink, and cream. The florals (cherries?) and leaf forms are intentionally simplified and exaggerated, creating a slightly funky, almost mid-century feel while still rooted in traditional Japanese textile design. The lattice suggests order and structure, while the scattered organic motifs bring movement and contrast.

There are signs of age showing blemishes consistent with the textile's vintage origin, adding to its character and history, see last photo.

The tapestry has a sewn sleeve across the top to accommodate up to a one-inch hanging rod. (You can add one of our 60" display rods through the gray tab below.)
