This is a vintage kimono jacket, called a haori, made for a man. Learn more about this type of garment below. 

A dramatic theater figure takes center stage on this striking haori lining, depicting the character Shojo with signature flowing red hair, richly patterned kimono and seigaiha-wave hakama, a folding fan raised in one hand. Associated with classical Noh theater, the Shojo is a supernatural, sake-loving spirit whose joyful dance is connected with celebration, longevity, and good fortune. Touches of gold add shimmer to the theatrical composition.

The outer fabric is a deep blue silk with a subtle woven grid-like texture.

Signs of age are present, including a light blemish on one lining sleeve, see last photo.

The lining of men's haori jackets often depict a scene or motif that was of special interest to the original owner. We often display these jackets inside out to show the lining, and they could be worn this way - inside out - as well; a style that is becoming trendy among Japanese youth.
