This listing is for several yards of yukata cotton salvaged from a partially-damaged summer kimono.  There is not enough yardage to re-create a full yukata but the pieces might be enough to make a summer jacket or add a Japanique touch to a quilt or any textile project.

Cotton with a bold green and white fan and vine pattern that was reversed on each side of the kimono. We have left the back panels connected, which shows the contrast that would have added a stylish look in the summer dances.

There are four panels, each 1.5 yards long, plus the two sleeves (each patterned with the reverse of the other) and the original collar piece (last photo) which is 1.5 yards long and 7" wide.

There are a few stray blemishes and an unusual pair of brown squars on one of the sleeves - see photos.

When we find vintage (circa 1950s but could be older or newer by two decades) Japanese kimono or haori in less-than-sellable condition, we salvage what we can and offer it to artisans, quilters, crafters, and designers for project work. So the fabric has been previously sewn and though we carefully deconstruct the kimono, previous seam lines, as well as minor blemishes, may need to be worked around or trimmed away. The inspiring designs, hand work, and the ageless beauty of vintage Japanese textiles make all the extra work so worthwhile.

See the video below for more ideas on how to incorporate vintage Japanese kimono fabrics into craft projects and wearables.
