This listing is for a traditional fukuro style obi. 

This bold fukuro obi commands attention with its striking red background and geometric golden motif, an interlocking sayagata pattern that symbolizes eternity, continuity, and good fortune. The full surface - no blank sections as we usually find on a fukuro obi - is richly decorated, creating an uninterrupted and dramatically eye-catching design from every angle.

Woven in metallic threads that catch the light beautifully, this obi embodies both strength and sophistication, making it ideal for formal wear or as a display piece of Japanese textile artistry.

The backside features its exposed lining - a solid, cream-colored silk.  The front fabric wraps around the back several inches and is hand-sewn in place.

The width is slightly narrower at 10" rather than the typical 12-14" width. The narrow width, lack of blank section, and shimmering design, suggests this obi was made for a performance.
