This listing is for a vintage michiyuki jacket, meant to be worn over a kimono. A square neck line, inner ties to keep the hemline straight, snap closure, and a hidden pocket on the right front panel are the specific features of a michiyuki - michi means "street" and yuki refers to "going out".

This michiyuki is a sweet, rich berry color - maybe even burgundy - with a floating leaf pattern.  The leaves are actually woven into the silk, and most of those are embellished with darker dye or outlined with little white dots. This creates an "echo" effect, where the pattern appears behind the embellished version.

Cute lining with cranes.  White basting stitches on the sleeves suggest that this jacket was never worn.

Michiyuki are a narrow garment, fastened with snaps that will open if the fit is too tight. (The measurement we give is the jacket snapped closed, so your hips and waist measurement should be several inches smaller than the hips/waist measurement we give.)
