Full of personality and unexpected charm, this haori reveals a shimmering gold and soft gray lining filled with a lively pack of dogs at play. Woven directly into the silk are dogs in an assortment of breeds and poses, some wrestling and chasing, others scratching, sitting, or simply lounging, giving the design an almost storybook quality. Dogs have long associations with loyalty, companionship, and protection, while the rich gold ground gives this playful scene an especially luxurious finish.

The outer silk is considerably more restrained, woven in a fine black and brown grid that creates a subtle textured effect.

The lining of men's haori jackets often depict a scene or motif that was of special interest to the original owner. We often display these jackets inside out to show the lining, and they could be worn this way - inside out - as well; a style that is becoming trendy among Japanese youth.
