This listing is for a vintage kimono made for a young girl. It is quite festive, brilliantly colored and features a collage of motifs that jumble into an eye-catching art piece. The bright colors, dense patterning, and the texture of the silk all suggest that this kimono is from the 1950s or earlier.
This kimono features a pink and turquoise cloud background with a cheerful design of densely decorated temari balls, as well as folding fans, pinwheel florals, and kumihimo cording - all in a rainbow of colors.
There is a small blemish on the front - see last photo - but we feel it does not detract from the beauty of this kimono for display or wearing.
Children's kimono often come with two long ties sewn to each side of the front collar. The right-side tie would be threaded behind the left side kimono panel, through the opening under the arm, around the back, and tied with the tie from the left side. A belt, sash or obi would then be tied over that for a finished look. (We offer a simple cotton version of this as an add-on option.)
Although it makes a dazzling display, it is still quite wearable - but please check the measurements against the child to confirm the fit before ordering. Kimono run small and remember that some of the length would be taken up at the waist when belted.
