This listing is for a vintage set of kimono and vest originally made for a young boy.  These are rarely worn these days but were common in the countryside and can be seen in old photographs of Japanese children playing together outside.

The patterning on this set features cranes flying over a series of traditional Japanese motifs which fill cream-colored bands that alternate with a medium blue.  Those motifs include seigaiha (overlapping coins or waves), shippo (overlapping circles) and a honeycomb grid filled with bell flowers.

There are blemishes from age visible in the lighter areas of the front of each piece, but the set is somewhat rare and collectible, so as a display they are still desirable.  Vintage boy's kimono do make fun display pieces in a child's room or anywhere a touch of Japanese decor would liven up the room.

Children's kimono come with two long ties sewn to each side of the front collar.  The right side tie would be threaded behind the left side, through the opening under the arm, around the back, and tied with the tie from the left side. If you would prefer a casual sash to tie the kimono closed, we offer simple cotton versions as an add-on option.

We also offer display rods in 30" widths (for displaying these separately) or 60" widths (to display them together.) - see the Add a Display Rod?" tab below.
