This listing is for a vintage set of kimono and vest originally made for a young boy.  These are rarely worn these days but were common in the countryside and can be seen in old photographs of Japanese children playing together outside. The kimono and the vest are both padded for warmth.

This set may have been made for autumn or winter wear, since they are a wool or wool-blend fabric.  The pattern is printed but meant to imitate a kasuri weave, with fuzziness at the edges of the elements.  The patterning includes a "hashtag" design (which actually represents a well cover) in white with green and orange accents, alternating with a series of arrow fletching in yellow and orange.

Children's kimono come with two long ties sewn to each side of the front collar.  The right-side tie would be threaded behind the left side, through the opening under the arm, around the back, and tied with the tie from the left side. If you would prefer a casual sash to tie the kimono closed, we offer simple cotton versions as an add-on option.
