This listing is for a vintage Japanese kinchaku (drawstring) purse. These are a prized accessory for a kimono-clad woman even today. They're typically made with kimono fabric, have a flat base, and tend to be used for casual, rather than formal, occasions.

This bag is rectangular with a yellow cording drawstring and bamboo rosa at the top closure. The cording extends to go over the top of the bamboo and loop around a smaller bamboo button. The fabric is a red with a grid of shibori diamonds.
