This listing is for a set of four vintage tenugui - traditional Japanese cotton hand towels.

The first towel features origami cranes with the Three Friends of Winter (pine, bamboo, plum blossom).

The second towel includes golden wisteria with green foliage. The inscription identifies Fuji no Ya, "House of Wisteria", a traditional inn formerly located in front of Nikko City Hall.

The third towel has a collage of mums atop of sweeping waves.

The fourth towel includes a plum blossom branch that extends out from the top edge.

There are signs of age with stains, fading, mottling, and edge wear consistent with vintage textiles. See photos and zoom in for details.

Tenugui hand towels have countless uses, from drying hands and wrapping gifts to home decor, crafting, and displaying.

See the video about the chusen dyeing technique often used in making tenugui hand towels.
