This listing is for a woman's Japanese summer kimono - called a yukata. Learn more about this type of kimono below.

Dark blue and white patterning give this yukata a crisp, structured look. Thin horizontal bands run across the fabric - possibly representing the lines of window blinds - and trailing wisteria blossoms droop down, creating a repeating botanical rhythm throughout the design. Scattered among the pattern are stylized kanji characters for kotobuki, meaning wishes for longevity, celebration, and good fortune.

There are signs of age with a few small blemishes, see last photos.

This kimono does not come with an obi or sash, but you can add one of our simple cotton sashes -- click the option on the right.

These are unlined cotton robes usually worn to casual gatherings or for summer festivals. Yukata are also sometimes offered to guests in Japanese inns and hotels. Yukata are popular these days as bath robes, beach or poolside cover ups, or for Japanese festivals or sushi parties anywhere in the world.

See the videos below for how to put on a casual kimono or yukata as well as a slide show of many beautiful ones!
