This particular kimono features the "mirror" design where the two front panels are mirror images.  This design, which includes the extension of the patterning to the inside lining (!), was popular in the early 1900s through the Taisho Era of the 1920s.

Elegant from every angle, this tomesode features lush peonies beneath graceful pine boughs, with blooming iris and beautifully shaded leaves creating a tranquil garden scene accented by fine embroidery. Peonies symbolize prosperity and honor, pine represents longevity and resilience, and iris is associated with protection and new beginnings, while the ivy family crests lend a refined touch of heritage.
