This listing is for a vintage Japanese child's kimono meant for a young boy.  These are rarely worn these days but were commonly used as robes at home up until the 1950s in rural Japan. It is slightly padded for warmth, as children sometimes slept wrapped in these comfy robes.  See slide show below for how adorable these can be!

This kimono features a background of brown, gold and black that alternate in a traditional fog pattern.  Floating on top are hexagons filled with auspicious Buddhist motifs:  clove, scrolls, rice weights, pine boughs and more.

Alongside these are large fan shapes filled with a hawk ready to take flight from a its pine bough perch - traditional imagery for a young boy's kimono.

It is still wearable, but please check the measurements - they run small.  A vintage boy's kimono does make fun display pieces in a child's room or anywhere a touch of Japanese decor would liven up the room.

We also offer display rods but only in 30" widths (which is too short for this item) or 60" widths (which may be too long unless you have something else to display alongside of it).  If you would like a custom-width rod, email us for a quote.
