A vibrant red and white palette gives this vintage haori a happy, graphic presence, with oversized fans and flowers emerging dramatically from a field of tiny shibori dots. Dense kanoko, or "fawn spot," shibori covers the silk, while larger areas of resist-work created open folding fans accompanied by stylized floral sprays. Fans are an auspicious motif associated with expanding fortune and prosperity, their widening shape suggesting good things spreading outward into the future.

A woman's haori is a traditional Japanese jacket worn over a kimono, designed to provide both warmth and an added layer of formality. Today, these jackets transition effortlessly into modern fashion as a lightweight, open-front layer. They can be worn over dresses, denim, or simple basics to add texture, color, and a distinctive, artful touch.

Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath.
