This listing is for an underkimono - called a "juban" in Japanese - which would be worn under a man's kimono. Juban often feature designs that reflect the interests of their owner but are rarely seen in public since they are layered underneath a kimono. Just in inch or two of the over-collar is visible, though you may catch a glimpse of the sleeve edge at the wrist. Juban make great casual robes.

This juban features the famous five-span wooden arch bridge known as the Kintai Bridge of Iwakuni. This iconic structure constructed in 1673 is a popular symbol of resilience, elegance, and Japanese engineering. The clouds create an almost dream-like quality to the aesthetic, as well as the bridge itself being a connection between worlds. Note the design details of the construction underneath, the pine trees, and cranes in the distance.

The over-collar is black. No lining.

There is one small blemish on the front sleeve and some discoloration on the collar, see last photos.

Juban make great robes and cover ups but watch the video below to see how to layer the juban with a kimono.

This kimono does not come with an obi/belt/sash, but we do make simple cotton sashes that can be added as an option when you order. We will choose a color that goes well with it.

If you'd like to display the kimono, we offer hanging rods in five colors (brown, black, natural, white, and red) - see the Add a Display Rod? tab below.
