This listing is for a man's Japanese summer kimono - called a yukata. These are unlined cotton robes usually worn to casual gatherings or for summer festivals. Yukata are also sometimes offered to guests in Japanese inns and hotels.

Yukata are popular these days as bath robes, beach or poolside cover ups, or for Japanese festivals or sushi parties anywhere in the world.

Daikin is an air conditioning company still running (pun intended) in Japan today.   It is quite common for companies to provide branded clothing to employees who would be representing the company at a public event. This yukata might have been meant for a group of employees working, dancing and/or marching in a summer festival.

The white and blue background is a solid brick wall, and the Daikin name is written forwards, backwards, and even reversed so it can be read in a mirror!

There are some blemishes on the front collar, but it could be easily covered up when worn with a sash. See last photo.

Yukata can be worn with a casual sash or even styled with a contemporary belt of scarf.  If you’d like something traditional, we sometimes have casual hanhaba (half-width) obi in our shop, but we also offer a simple cotton sash that can be added to your order by clicking the option above. We'll choose a color that goes with or contrasts nicely with the yukata.

See the videos below for how to put on a casual kimono or yukata as well as a slide show of many beautiful ones!
