is listing is for a vintage, formal, Japanese kimono called a tomesode (sometimes called kurosode or "Mother of the Bride" kimono), which are typically reserved for very formal occasions, such as weddings or performances. There are always at least three - but usually five - family crests on the upper section (one at the neck, one on the back of each sleeve, and one on each side of the collar) and an elegant design that stretches across the entire hemline, with more of the image in the front, where it would be seen best.

This tomesode features a deep, rich, bright colors that we don't often see on a vintage (nearly antique) kimono. Coral, bright blues, pinks, yellow and more. The bows of two fishing boats seem to rest along the shore, each filled with auspicious elements that include fans, florals, pink, a "magic mallet", and more. There's also a partially-obscured bridge over roiling pink waters. Gold accents.

The '"mirror" design across the front two panels plus the light weight of the silk suggest that this piece is from the 1920s-1940s, so we are quite surprised at how deep and bright the colors still are!

The family crest is a trisected bush clover.
