This listing is for a traditional Japanese hair ornament called kanzashi.  Kanzashi is a generic term for a wide variety of these accessories - including long, rigid hairpins, barrettes, fabric flowers, combs and fabric hair ties - which are worn in traditional Japanese hairstyles.  Click here to learn more about the many forms of kanzashi.

This kanzashi hanagushi (flower comb) is likely celluloid though it could be bakelite - both were popular after WWII.  There is an elaborate floral design along the top that features beautiful gold florals with pearl centers.
