This listing is for a contemporary (1990s?) Japanese half obi (hanhaba in Japanese) that might have been worn to a semi-formal event because of its shine and bright contrast.

The front side is an emerald green with a gold design of cherry blossoms (sakura) and tatewaku waves. The backside is the same patterning but in a white-on-white coloring. When tied, the two colors offer a wider variety of looks for the knots or bows.

Though it was hard to capture with the camera, the green dye work is actually a very subtle mottled green and blue.

Possibly silk or a silky synthetic.
