This listing is for a woman's tomesode kimono. See flow for more information on these formal kimono.

Gracefully embroidered cranes rise above sweeping green waves, their outstretched wings creating a striking sense of movement against the deep black. Cranes symbolize longevity, fidelity, and good fortune, while the flowing waves evoke resilience and life's continual journey. Five paulownia family crests mark this tomesode's highest level of formality.

The fabric is a synthetic blend, not silk.

There are slight signs of age with a few blemishes, see last photo, but still a striking display or wearable art statement!

If you'd like to display the kimono, we offer hanging rods in a variety of colors (brown, black, natural, white, and red) - see the Add a Display Rod? tab below.

If you'd like to wear or display this kimono with a traditional obi, browse our OBI section. Although it isn't traditional, if you'd like one of our simple cotton sashes to wear with this, we'll choose a complimenting color for (see Add a Sash? above).

Tomesode are among the most formal styles of kimono, traditionally worn by the mother of the bride or groom and other close family members at weddings. They typically feature one, three, or five family crests, with an elegant design concentrated along the lower hem.  See the video below for more!
