This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori kimono jacket that has been embellished with a painted motif by Taylor Faidley (see her bio below).

The fabric is a light blue-green with a textured weave of an abstract basketweave or fish net design. On the back Taylor has painted an homage to Hokusai's Great Wave woodblock image. The water is a bright, rich blue and the foamy crests are stark white to create a dramatic contrast. Just the top of Mt. Fuji is visible in the background.

Taylor Faidley is an up-and-coming young artist based in rural Pennsylvania. What might have started with crayon drawings covering the refrigerator soon became a calling that spans dozens of media. "I've pursued art for as long as I can remember. As a child I loved drawing pictures of my family. Now I work with a wide variety of materials: silk painting, acrylics, pencil drawing, digital design, felting, 3D art pieces - and now I'm painting on vintage kimono! I've always loved Japan and any kind of animation. I draw inspiration from anime and hope to be an animator myself one day. Drawing characters is my passion, but koi and cherry blossoms are never far behind. My designs are always made with care and the hope that someone will enjoy them just as much as I do."
