This is a dochugi style vintage kimono jacket, which crosses over in the kimono style (unlike the haori style which hangs open in the front). But instead of needing an obi, it closes with inner and outer ties, which can be tied loosely to allow for a more generous fit. Where haori are best for up to a size 12, dochugi can fit up to a size 16+.

The fabric is a sturdy cotton weave of black with green and red accents. A great weight for a studio jacket or a chic top to wear over black pants for work or a party.

Unlined, with elastic at the wrist that can be removed if a smoother cuff is desired.

Please note that the measurement given for the waist/hips is the full, end-to-end measurement around the middle. The ties can usually add 3-4 more inches of coverage depending on how tightly or loosely they are tied.

Dochugi are often worn by shop keepers or studio artisans in Japan, so they may feature tapered sleeves and cross-over ties to keep the wearer warm and the fabric out of the way while providing a tailored, professional look.
