This listing is for a vintage Japanese kimono and obi combination.

The kimono is a soft purpley-blue crepe silk with a pattern of llight blue swirls and white heart-shaped flowers that seem to have been made with a wax or rice paste resist. Look closely at the photos so see the mottled effect, which is not the batik crackle we see with hardened wax but it could have been made with a softer, thinner layer of wax. It seems to have been painted on with a brush, though, so we suppose a rice paste resist might be more likely.

Silk,lined, excellent condition.
Length=63in
Wrist-to-wrist=52in
Waist/hips=46in

The obi seems to be fukuro style, which is typically 14in wide for the entire 1 yard length, but this obi has no backing (see last photo) for the belt portion of the obi, so would be folded over to hide the backside and make it easier to wrap around the waist.

The obi was woven with almost a reversible pattern of abstract florals against a tan background. The patterning is reversed on the backside, where you can see a second layer of weaving that creates the verigated blue of the florals. The obi is a heavy cotton but is not stiff so would be fairly easy to tie.
