This listing is for a dochugi-style vintage kimono jacket, which crosses over in the kimono style (unlike the haori style which hangs open in the front). But instead of needing an obi, it closes with inner and outer ties, which can be tied loosely to allow for a more generous fit. Where haori are best for up to a size 12, dochugi can fit up to a size 16+.

This dochugi has a cream colored background to an abstract geometric patterning in pink and black.  We believe the fabric was created with the ikat technique - see the video below for how this is done.

The fiber is silk, we think, with a crepe texture and a lightweight drape.

Please note that the measurement given for the waist/hips is the full, end-to-end measurement around the middle. The ties can usually add 3-4 more inches of coverage depending on how tightly or loosely they are tied.

Dochugi are often worn by shop keepers or studio artisans in Japan, so they may feature tapered sleeves and cross-over ties to keep the wearer warm and the fabric out of the way while providing a tailored, professional look.
