Happi coats are traditional Japanese festival jackets made from durable cotton and worn by groups to show identity and spirit during celebrations, performances, or community events.

Bright, bold, and full of motion, this happi coat brings a coastal festival energy. The vivid green cotton background is anchored by a large red matsuri (festival) character on the back, framed by a dynamic blue rope design that twists and flows across the garment. As it extends downward, the rope cleverly transitions into rows of stylized fish, creating a visual story that connects maritime life with celebration.

Along the front lapels, the kanji reads Okaya City on one side and the name of the group on the other, tying the garment to a specific local festival group. The turned sleeve edge reveals a crisp white cuff with blue polka dots.

There are signs of age and use with some light fading in areas.

If you need a display rod to hang your purchase, we offer 60" wooden rods - see tab below.
