This listing is for a vintage Japanese folding fan (sensu in Japanese). See videos below on how the paper version of these fans are made - it's quite an elaborate and precise process. 

Metallic gold paper and a bold red ceremonial arrow give this folding fan a striking design, inspired by traditional Japanese good-luck charms associated with New Year shrines and prayers for success or protection. The tied arrow tag appears to reference a lucky arrow or celebratory blessing. Look closely to see the artist's signature and stamp.

There are signs of age with a small discoloration on the gold area, see last photo.

These vintage Japanese fans are wonderful as wall accents or used as props in dance, photography, or ceremony. Beautiful for home or office display or as a thoughtful gift.
