Originally worn by hikeshi (traditional Japanese firefighters), these hoods were soaked in water before entering burning buildings to protect the head, shoulders, and neck from sparks and heat. 

This hood features a deep blue body accented with tan edging - simple and functional. The front flap bears a bold kanji character enclosed in a red circle, likely a brigade or family crest identifying the wearer's firefighting group. The kanji translates to "wild boar" - perhaps a brigade that prided itself on bravery, protection, and determination.
