This listing is for a partial obi sampler bolt with 9 sections of the same intricately woven design, but in different color schemes. Each section is approximately 7" long and 14" wide.

A richly detailed design unfolds across this obi sampler, featuring flowing bands that resemble stylized rivers or layered hills, filled with seasonal florals in delicate clusters.

There is a thick bundle of trailing threads on the backside of each design which would have to be removed (a difficult task) before machine sewing.  These threads can provide a bit of padding if the fabric is converted into a purse or pillow.

These sampler bolts were created by fabric companies to showcase new designs and colors that would be available in the next season. In fact, a salesman would visit a kimono tailor and leave these bolts to show to customers. This was common practice through the 1960s, but these sampler bolts are quite hard to find these days.
