This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori jacket that would have been worn on top of a vintage kimono on a chilly day.  Black haori like this are sometimes called "visiting haori" since they were worn for semi-formal occasions, like attending a community gathering.

Make an unforgettable entrance with this striking haori jacket that glows with vivid embroidery accents and refined tradition. A bright vermilion hanaguruma floral cart anchors the design, with its blossoms and wheels rendered with rich stitched details. Closed folding fan pairs appear at the end of the cart, sleeves, and front panel, offering a symbol of celebration and elegance.

Inside, the lining bursts into a serene garden of green and white irises, creating a refreshing contrast.  (This haori was hand-stitched with hidden seams, so it is reversible!)

Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath.
