This listing is for a vintage obijime - the finishing touch for a kimono ensemble. Obijime are wound across the middle of the obi belt and tied with a decorative knot at the front.  It is a braided or woven cording, sometimes referred to as kumihimo with a color and design that complements the obi rather than matching the color. See the video below for how obijime are made.

This obijime is a formal-style flat weave with a delicately woven design of what looks to us like two thin, arching bamboo shoots - but we have no idea what the little red bulb at the end of one of the shoots is meant to represent. The green color is sometimes called "young bamboo".

As to be expected with lighter colored garments, there is a blemish, see last photo, however this could be hidden when tied or wrapped.

Other contemporary uses of the obijime are as a cord belt with jeans or dress or modified into fashion accessories such as hair bands, purse straps, lanyards, glasses holders, jewelry, and more! See the video below on wearing an obijime as a casual belt, necklace, or bracelet.
