This listing is for a padded vest that was no doubt part of a matching kimono set from the 1950s or likely earlier. We don't see many of these, but they make eye-catching displays of Japanique art in small spaces. 

With a coral pink background, the featured patterning includes dozens of delicate, vertical bands of blossoms that remind us of a Springtime shower of flowers.  Look closely to see that the blossoms do not descend in a straight line. 

No fasteners to keep it closed but could be pinned or a tie or button could be added by a creative new owner.  Cute collar, scoop neck, and padded with a bright red lining.

Unfortunately, there are a few very small holes on the back showing its age, but they are hard to notice without a close inspection. See last photo.

Vests like these would have been worn over a kimono to keep the child warm, since most rural Japanese houses still had paper doors. These little gems make unique display pieces and add a touch of Japanique charm in a small space. Sized for a toddler, it is wearable but might be best as wall decor.
