This listing is for a display piece made from the narrow belt portion of a vintage Japanese nagoya-style obi. Nagoya obi are a challenge to display (because a third of it is 13"-14" wide and 2/3rds of it is folded over to half that width to make wrapping the belt portion easier). We separate the wide from the narrow portion and create two display pieces - one wide, one narrow. (Wide section listed separately.)

This tapestry is a deep, rich brick tone silk with a splash of pastel colors in a floral motif. The sprig of floral is somewhat abstracted, with several different flowers coming from the same stm.

Lovely pastel colors with some gold leaf that seems to have tarnished over time. but still provides some shine.

The design was done with the yuzen technique - see videos below to learn more.

A similar pattern appears on the back but the piece is not reversible due to the sewn sleeve at the top.

We keep the conversion simple - basically cutting the obi, folding one end over to create a sleeve for a display rod, and stitching that in place. A simple chopstick was used in the photos (not included), because the tapestry is short and lightweight.
