This listing is for an old shop banner from a sushi shop. The fabric is a linen-cotton blend, dyed in natural indigo. 

The design features a large Japanese ivy or tsuta crest - possibly the shop and/or the owner's family name - and kanji that give the shop name and a reference to sushi.

There is a thin metal bar sewn into the top and bottom seams and the remnants of a metal hook it would have been hung from. As shown in the photos, the fabric is lightweight and thin - almost semi sheer - and shows signs of wear in the corners/edges. Still, a clever collector piece.
