This listing is for a vintage Japanese casual kimono. To celebrate the 2025 Holiday Collection and the season of giving, the simple cotton sash you see pictured with this kimono will be included!  

Quiet elegance makes the strongest statement, and this vintage kimono proves it with a refined pattern of tiny, red characters against a dark background. The characters repeat in thin rows, with the characters created with a dye that looks like the red lacquer that would have surrounded the woven threads if the pattern had been woven.  We believe that, instead, a very fine stencil was used to apply the color.  Quite a painstaking, complicated pattern and process performed by a masterful designer and dyer.

The understated pattern allows it to pair beautifully with bold accessories or simple minimal spaces.
