This listing is for a vintage Japanese casual kimono. To celebrate the 2025 Holiday Collection and the season of giving, the simple cotton sash you see pictured with this kimono will be included!  

Filled with the charm of antique ceramics, this vintage kimono captures the eye with its playful mosaic style vases set across a deep green background that feels perfect for the holidays. Each urn is outlined with soft crackled shading and warm reds, golds, and soft blues that echo stained glass or hand laid tile, all framed by a subtle floral jacquard in the background that shimmers as it moves.

Egyptian motifs were very popular in Japan in the 1920s and 1930s (soon after King Tut's tomb was discovered in 1922), but the urn motif (along with others, like palm trees and hieroglyphics) didn't show up on kimono until the mid-century, so this kimono is likely from the 1940s-1950s.

The pops of color that you see in the red lining that peeks out at the sleeves add a festive touch.  A wonderful conversation starter!
