This striking set of six different vintage katagami stencils offers a tactile piece of Japanese design history, each cut to generous 18" x 14" panels. Crafted from persimmon tannin-dyed washi paper, known as kakishibu, these stencils are prized for their rich brown tone, natural water resistance, and remarkable durability.

The intricate patterns reflect traditional katagami techniques, where thousands of tiny cuts were made by hand to create repeating geometric and abstract designs once used in kimono dyeing.

They are still usable - and an authentic (new) katagami stencil brush is included - but would need a gentle touch.  These are amazing pieces of artistry and craftsmanship if framed or incorporated into mixed media art.

Ideal for printmaking, textile art, wall art, journaling, mixed media, or display, this versatile set brings warmth, history, and graphic beauty to both contemporary art projects and curated interiors.
